Not exactly his best stuff, even a bit passive at times, but he got it done. Ironically his FH and to some extent the serve was the weapon today, Gojowczyk was winning a lot of BH battles, seemed to cut a very sharp angle even greater than Kei's.

Indoors quickness and low bounce does make it hard for Kei to establish position and unload on shots so close to the baseline, but he had a few good return games in the second set where he was able to successfully penetrate the court with deftly timed shots especially FHs that Gojowczyk couldn't really see coming. Good start overall considering he played the defending champion.

Also note he won his 9th straight TB today. :eek:
