D.O.B: 10/4/1992
Plays: Right Handed
Coach: Ben Mathias

Maverick Banes began playing tennis aged four and achieved a career goal when he first competed in the Australian Open Junior boys’ singles in 2008.

Born and bred on the Gold Coast, Maverick enjoys the challenge of playing in humid and testing conditions.

A 2010 scholarship holder in the AIS Pro Tour Program in Canberra, his favourite surface is clay.

The person who has most influenced his career is his father, John, and his sporting hero is Carlos Moya.

One day he’d like to be in the ATP top 10, win a Grand Slam tournament and represent Australia in Davis Cup.

His motto is “to give 100 per cent always”. Outside of sport he likes to spend time at the beach and listening to music.

Banes gave a good showing of himself in the final, but losing in three sets to Balleret 1-6, 7-6, 4-6. Well done Maverick. Hope he is playing again this week, he should get an SE into next tournament.
Yep - he is in the draw for the $10k Futures at Amelia Island, Florida, on green clay. He has drawn a qualifier but could then face the No.1 seed if they both progress.

Banes had a round one win against a qualifier 6-4 6-4. Next up he takes on world number 211 Matteo Viola who is the top seed will be a good test to see where he is at.

Mav finally wraps up the opening round qualy win 3-6 6-2 7-5 after being 5-1 up the final set.

Still a great win considering he is ranked #701 and Gonzalez is #269....

Great win for Banes. Live score for the Levine match isnt working. All i know is that it went to 3 sets.

EDIT: Levine won.

Good match up for Mav tomorrow then against Jesse.

Perfect preparation of the kind of players he will come up against in AO qualies.

after struggling through his first match in quallies against Matheson Klein, Banes beat the top seed yesterday and flogged the 8th seed today to qualify for Caloundra. now he'll draw either Lu, Wang, Vardhan or Groth.
