The funny thing is that Stakhovsky won 12 more points but lost in QR2, while Lestienne won 1 more point but lost here

LL beating the guy who beat him during qualification...Has something like this happened before?
Thiemo de Bakker lost to Diez in qualies once (retired after winning the first set, then down 2-0 in the second), they played again in R1 and De Bakker destroyed him 6-1 and 6-2:lol:. He probably knew about a withdrawal or something and just did not care to play the qualification match.

Nothing to be seen here. It was a close match in qualies and it was a close match in R1. That the winner is different is no more surprising than if the outcome had been the same.

As a French Tennis Analyst (whose advice I should have followed when betting), in those rematches, qualies winner has far more pressure and looser a will of revenge…. that added to the close qualies scoreline and Lestienne not that used to playing/winning at ATP level and it is a set of evidences to have guessed right.

So if you withdrew in the qualies, they're not going to the next guy as a LL? Didn't know that
