Roddick would never go anywhere but USA cause he always was avoiding strong field. Has he ever won event outside America except Queens? maybe just a couple cause he has 30 titles

Marseille is one of the better 250.s together with Sthlm. A shame Mempis goes on as a 500 year after year.

I don't know if it's changed this year, but Memphis doesn't even have a challenge system. That should automatically make you 250 or less.

Why are there so many obscure 500 events at random times during the year. I mean they're not all well placed for the top guys to complete their commitments. Just look at Washington. I wasn't even aware Memphis was a 500 event :facepalm:.

If I was a player, it would be a no doubt situation to play in Memphis than Marseille. Easy field for a 500, lots of points and money to be won.

Unless Marseille is guaranteeing Fish a large appearance fee, which is why he's playing there.

The placement of Memphis isn't obscure, it's 2 weeks before IW, and Miami:shrug:

Washington is only obscure this year because it's with the Olympics, normally washington is the week before Montreal/Toronto, that's not obscure either

I´ve always thought the same thing, especially for lower ranked players there are many points to be won at San Jose, Memphis and Delray Beach, the field is so weak.

Apparently Fish is getting a nice appearance fee from Marseille. And considering he played Davis Cup in EUrope and will play in Dubai, it makes sense to stay in Europe.

yeah he won St.Polten; Lyon ; Peking ; Brisbane and Dubai...yes he is always avoiding strong fields that`s why he for example played dubai in 2008...

O.k one thing was comparing those events before they started, but now when we look on those tournaments, F in Memphis Raonic-Melzer, Melzer is playing really great, that match against Isner was amazing from his side, but still ranking wise - that F for 500 event.. Milos is defending runner-up and clearly besides Nole best in-form player this season so far, but if you would say before Memphis started that Melzer will earn 300 points for F, Stepanek and Becker 180 for SF than i would laugh-SF - Becker.... at 500 event, he wouldn´t make SF in any other 500 event for sure.

Marseille - SF-3/4 highest seeded, only Fish was eliminited- but that guy Olivetti has future for sure.. but still SF - Delpo, Tsonga highest seeded guys, Tipsy- consistent guy in last months and Llodra-home hero - indoor fast surface - former champion it is not such big surprise he make it to SF and F

Really if we compare Memphis and Marseille i have nothing to say just wondering what´s wrong here...

Even 250 Buenos Aires is much better than Memphis - it is different outdoor clay - other 2 are indoor fast HC, but still - SF - Almagro, Wawrinka, Ferrer and Nalbandian is decent for any 250 event, especillay on clay, alredy in F is former champion and guy who is one of best clay-courters out there.
