What is most disappointing here is that no one has broken serve from what I read...that is, until Matosevic got broken -- in the final game! Kind of like an anti-climax on this serve heavy match IMO. You just know that it is not that easy to hold in a possible big win...

Yes, no one has broke the oponents serve. But with Matosevic you are never sure :( I so wanted another tie break

Re: Madrid R2 Isner Def Matosevic 7-6(9) (5)6-7 7-5

17 holds, surely. 6+6+5.
According to the official stats Matosevic saved 5/6 BPs, while 1/1 BPs for Isner -- so yeah, 17 holds. That said, just 5/6 the whole match? Matosevic saved 3 BPs during one game at the 3rd Set, and saved 1 during the last game -- that means other times in the previous sets both players almost never faced a break point! Impressive on paper especially on a clay court!

According to livescore, first set had 0 BPs total. 2nd had one, for Isner. One (unsuccessful) BP in two sets on clay is just ridiculous. A bit more in the 3rd, for the total you correctly stated.
