I predicted this.....Nadal kept the ball nice and deep (and high) to begin with and was up a break.....but then fell into his natural tendency of using the angles, and that played right into Zverev's hands....
Zverev can only win if Nadal drops the ball short, and especially near the tramlines to give Zverev space to swing.
If Nadal keeps the ball deep, then there is nothing Zverev can do.
Nadal does not even need to play aggressively, he just has to keep the ball deep (don't need to hit the ball hard or flat).
Nadal leads 5-2, but Zverev won easily on Indoor Hardcourt, and most of Nadal's wins were close because Nadal's natural tendency to use the tramlines played into Zverev's hands.

Oldal is old, will still win RG.

At first it looked like a standard Nadal win as Zverev started too passive and was duly broken, but unexpectedly he broke right back with a pair of strong passes, and after Nadal failed to break in the following game missing a pass on BP, his game further lost sting while Zverev's improved. The 'late' challenge incident clearly energised Zverev to channel his anger into big hitting, which persisted to the end of the match. Nadal, on his part, was quite toothless, making single digit winners, lacking depth and missing makeable passes repeatedly. Sadly, he's still the odds-on favourite for RG given the lack of positive history from other challengers bar Djokovic, who's been out of clay form himself.

This loss means Nadal slides back behind Medvedev in the rankings again and will be seeded #3 at RG since he can't improve in Rome (2019 title retained in COVID rankings). A chance for a Djokodal SF so someone else is guaranteed to make the final, I'm all for it.

His third win in a row against Nadal, and his first win over Rafa on clay.

Zverev previously had a 0-5 record against Nadal, but several of those matches were very close - he had match points in their first match at Indian Wells, was up 2 sets to 1 in their AO 2017 match before he started cramping, and was up a break in the deciding set against him in their Rome 2018 match before losing his rhythm due to a rain delay. He should have won at least 1 if not 2 of those matches, so he deserves to have evened out the H2H at little.

YESSSSSSSSS SASCHA!!!!!!!!! COME ONNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

3-0 against Nadal in their latest encounters and 6-0 in sets 🥳 🥳 🥳

Better player by far won - Sascha totally overpowered Nadal, whose grinding/defensive game was completely ineffective. It was really fun to watch from start to finish 🥰

Between this, the loss to Tsitsipas at AO, Rublev in Monte Carlo and Medvedev in London, safe to say Next Gen are dominating Nadal nowadays 🤭🤭🤭

Man, Nadal looks bad. Zverev wasn't particularly good, tons of shanks in the first set especially, and he still won in straight sets- 2nd set should have been easier too.

Nadal has only played one remotely impressive clay match in the past two years, but that was the RG finals.

Wow...that's 6 straight sets for Sascha in this matchup...none tiebreaks btw....has this matchup completely turned on it's head?

Zverev hasn't had a great year so far, but he always can come out of nowhere and play solid tennis against top players(like against Stef in Acapulco final).

You better watch out. RG is an entirely different beast.
