“It would be catastrophic for youth tennis in France. The FFT would have to go into huge debt, the 100 million euros we contributed to promoting tennis nationally and internationally would be lost, and the employment of many families would be endangered. we can lower the salary or fire people just like that so we have a great social responsibility. The losses would reach 260 million euros if the tournament is not played,“ declared a sincere Lionel Maltese, whose explanations must be taken into account and show a certain degree of despair on the part of the FFT for getting ahead Roland Garros 2020 either way.

So it makes no difference whether the ATP awards ranking points or not, the fact is France will never cancel Roland Garros.....because they'd lose 260 million euros if the tournament is not played.
On top of that, it'll be the most famous event ever played, because it'll be the event that Rafa tied Federer, and it'll be the first slam after coronavirus!

If everything turns out right, Rafa would break at RG 2021. That's still 15 months away, definitely not "Very soon"
What's "turning right"? Right for whom? He may win RG20 or AO21, now that's right. Otherwise it'll be at RG21.

This just amplifies how much of a hypocrite Forget is with respect to the comments he made about the posibility of postponing AO. Cancelling would've been massive losses for TA as well but he didn't give a shit and somehow everyone is supposed to give a shit now that the Frenchies are hysterical about the prospect of RG having to cancel?

The crocodile tears of the bully who has been stood up to.

And the mealy-mouthed hypocrisy of it all: apparently they acted like total arseholes out of "social responsibility".

And anyway, what kind of corrupt shitshow can't survive financially for one year if there is a cancellation?

That's what reserves are for, you dipshits.

That would be a mighty loss, but why the HELL would they spend 100mil promoting it? It's already a well-known event around the world...

Also, where did the other 160mil come from? I don't quite understand how that 260 number came about.

Regardless that would be a huge loss, but at the end of the day it's just money that can always be earned back. Health & safety comes 1st.

I don’t like the idea this slam to be totally cancelled because it’s still the best chance for Thiem to win his first slam but have to agree what Frenchies did is just a hard proof of how big and selfish bastards they are. This is just unacceptable on so many levels.

"Overall, the amount of work is estimated at 400 millions euros, "financed by the French Tennis Federation" mainly from "equity" we specify"

Which implies borrowing from banks ... for his part, Wimbledon has insurance concerning a pandemic

I don't usuaIIy pay attention to these ex-piayers views on shouId/shouId nots but if this is the same character who made those comments about AO, then aII i've got to say to him is "u & FO can shove some red dirt up aII of your derrieres".

You are not well informed, the guy who messed it all is Bernard Giudicelli and articles say he did it all by himself.
Guy Forget said the following a few weeks ago Guy Forget sur l'Open de France : Nous suivrons les recommandations

Roland Garros tournament director Guy Forget said they would follow government and medical experts' recommendations for the Roland-Garros event in Paris in May.

Most important is the health of the players and spectators. We are going to explore all the possibilities but, in any case, the decision will not be the responsibility of the French Federation.

We will follow the recommendations. The big unknown at the moment is how long it will last. "The French Sports Minister announced on Monday new restrictions on sports events.

I am not a fan of Guy Forget but what I read about him here is really lame.

Are you really from Spain? Maybe you hope to travel to France late September?
I'd say RG20 will be played in 2021. Or if FFT keeps insisting on their postponed timeline - it will be played, but without live attendance.

The best solution would be to play in December, get rid of the new Davis Cup, find enough indoor courts and make them clay courts.
