Anderson in SF... what a weird year...

Watching the way Anderson played yesterday, I really can't believe it.

I was thinking he might win this, but was expecting score more like 7-6 6-4, not this...

What a horrible match from Evgeny. Hit soooooooooo many errors!! All Anderson had to do was get the ball back in play and Evgeny would hit an error. Tremendous opportunity for Anderson in his first ATP tournament.

Who said he was serve only?

Anderson obviously has a good game, especially for his height, and has got a bit of a breakthrough here.

However Korolev was coming back from injury at this tourney and maybe something went wrong again. Korolev had some bad looking losses last year too. It is also possible that the Roitman/Gonzo/Sela part of Korolev's draw was just very flattering to him.

6-0, 6-0 to Nieminen last year in Miami and now this just one day after beating the top seed

Gulbis-Ginepri might as well be the title match, or at the very least runner-up if somehow Canas manages to not get upset in the bottom half

no, like Isner, except not quite as good a serve and a little bit better groundies and movement. He too does not follow the serve into net much. He probably will never reach another ATP semifinal or even quarter, but still a good tournament for the kid. He has simply played people who have played Top 1000-caliber tennis against him.

Anderson will keep following this up with good results. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this guy has a huge game. His serve is pretty big like a Feliciano Lopez and he's got a big forehand and moves well for a guy his height. He's more of a baseliner, the way he plays reminds me a bit of Joachim Johansson.

Anderson winning it would top the Nishikori/Stakhovsky surprises.

I don't think so, look who Stakhovsky beat (Karlovic + Ljubicic indoors etc) Anderson has had a very easy draw.

Korolev isn't really all that reliable, but I wasn't really expecting him to lose, least of all with a scoreline like that. WTF is going on this year? :lol: :cuckoo:
