Turning point in the match was when kei won a marathon game to break back from 1-3 down in the 2nd set, he then went on to win the next 4 games for 5-3 and served it out unusually easily.

3rd set was all kei

Re: Kuala Lumpur R1: Nishikori def. gbasahvili 3-6, 6-4, 6-1

No more slow start please, Kei...!

Gaba played really well in the first set but he probably ran out of the steam in the second set.
Kei started moving better and hitting more winners than errors from half way in the second set.

Good luck against Petzschner! :yeah:

Gaba totally fell apart, started double faulting, and destroyed a major opportunity in this match, plus got injured in the process.

Avoided an unacceptable loss. This is a court that should suit his game

Missed a few games in the 2nd set but watched Kei draw even at 3-3 and then till the end of the match.
Slow start (but gaba played well), got the job done anyway.
Looking forward to the next match.
