Kohli was cramping at the 4th set but manage to take it to TB and won it easily

depending on Mayer would have been a heart attack for the germans

It's not decided yet, but according to the German media favoured cities are either Halle, Hamburg or Bremen.
hmmm, any chance it will be on grass?

I really love the atmosphere in Halle, but since I live in Hamburg, I'd obviously prefer Hamburg or Bremen.
Anyways, looking forward to it. :yeah:

EDIT:
OTOH, the Hamburg Masters event could diminish Hamburg's chances to hold the next DC tie.

With Haas properly healed and Kohli playing like at the beginning of the year, Germany can cause major damage this year

I remember Davis Cup tie in Halle 1993, Germany vs. Czech Republic. Angry Novacek threw the ball to the umpire in the 5th set against Stich

Maybe. The last time Germany won against Spain in DC was 1994 in Halle on grass, so it could be an option. On the other hand Spain has good players on grass meanwhile ;)
Besides, there were Becker and Stich, so...

On grass Ferrero would be too strong for us. Carpet is cheaper and a better surface. Kiefer is better than Kohlschreiber on carpet, but he won't play I fear.

Don't forget about Feliciano Lopez who plays on the grass really well. With Nadal, Lopez, Ferrero & Verdasco, Spain is a strong team for grass-court match.

The same goes for hard (Lopez, Ferrer, Ferrero). I doubt Nadal will play the next tie, so grass is still the best bet for our team, though Haas and Kohli aren't really great on it. I wish Keifer would get fit and willing to play. Hm, I guess it's a toss up between both surfaces...

I'm proud of Kohli - only 2nd tie he played, first time he's the captain and he won all 3 matches he played. Great showing. Confidence does wonder to your game.

I saw Verdasco in last year's Queens and he was pathethic. Anyway, you're point is good, with Nadal and Lopez they are dangerous
