cool. She has been playing well and it's nice to see a woman player doing well again for Germany.

Thanks for posting this message, Matthias :yeah:
what a surprise

lol, unbelievable :D

I'm surprised Tommy doesn't play anymore Hopman Cup... so Kiwi plays this year and doesn't go to Adelaide anymore that week.

Maybe it's a good choice for Kiwi because he is guaranteed at least three singles there which is a huge advantage for preparation.

With Grönefeld improving a lot this year, maybe they have a chance in that tournament and could even survive the group play :yeah:

Grönefeld injured yesterday while destroying Sharapova, up a set and 4-2 in the second. Probably a broken ligament  That brutally stopped her terrific rise from 75 to 21 this year.

Also it of course is affecting the chances for the Hopman Cup team. Such a well playing Grönefeld could have beaten lots of other women to help the team.

Kiwi had consoling words for her and is optimistic that she will be able to return in time for Hopman Cup

Germany has to play Australia, Argentina and the qualifier of Netherlands/China in their group.

31.12.05 Kiefer vs Arthurs
04.01.06 Kiefer vs Gaudio
05.01.06 Kiefer vs qualifier (Wessels or Peng Sun)

Grönefeld has to play Stosur, Dulko and Krajicek or Shuai Peng.

They are the big favourites in their group. :)

Thanks for the news and keeping us updated, JMG!
I didn't even know that the groups were already drawn

The group could have been worse, Gaudio can be difficult because he's clearly the best quality player in the group.

Now if only Grönefeld didn't injure. So she is currently the big question mark in the team and very doubtful to me at how much of her ability she can play in the first event after returning from her injury (if he manages to be healthy in time).
