Bjorkman & Mirnyi Win Doha Title

Jonas Bjorkman and Max Mirnyi became the first winners of the 2006 ATP season after the duo claimed the Qatar ExxonMobil Open title in Doha on Friday.

Bjorkman and Mirnyi, the No. 1 seeds, defeated Belgian brothers Christophe and Olivier Rochues 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 (Match TB) to make the perfect start to the new year.

The Doha crown was Bjorkman-Mirnyi's fifth overall since they first teamed up in 2005. Last year they also won Roland Garros and three ATP Masters Series shields in Miami, Hamburg and Cincinnati.

It was the second Doha title for Mirnyi, who also won the title in 2000 with Mark Knowles.
