Native of Beaufort,South Carolina and one of Boxing's legends succumbed to liver cancer tonight.

Story

Will always be known as the foil to Muhammed Ali. Never as popular because he was not as flamboyant and egotistical, but was a "fighters fighter".

No poor Joe never did get the credit he deserved. He was just boxing at the wrong time always in the shadow of Ali. R.I.P. Joe.

Sad day. He was as tough as they came and was as responsible as anyone for Ali's fame.

Yes, great fighter, and while I yield to nobody in my admiration of Ali, his propaganda job on Frazier was probably the most disgraceful episode in his life. Frazier was highly supportive of Ali during his ban yet as soon as Ali came back and saw Frazier (rightly) as the main obstacle to regaining the world title, he came out with all this "gorilla" crap.
