I was so impressed by his match against Fils.
He hits backhand and returns like Jannik Sinner. His forehand and dropshot are devastating like prime Carlos Alcaraz'.
He serves already at 220+
And he is just 17 years old.
Who can stop him? Tell me because I have no idea.

Looking at the kid's pro results so far, his main problem right now is probably that his body can't sustain this style for more then 3 consecutive matches, so he's never made a final even on Futures level despite getting some good wins and impressive scorelines in early rounds.

I think this is a good explanation but also an easily disprovable one in one or two years. Sinner has always been skinny but could win a few matches in a row before turning 18.

It will be interesting to see what kind of tournaments he plays next, considering he’s never even won a future. Maybe he’ll aim straight for ATP level. Federer never played a future in his career but played a handful of challengers for a year, had good results and won one. Nadal won a lot of futures at 16 and played a lot of challengers finals at 17. Djokovic won both futures and challengers at 17.

You all just wait when Dutch star of the future Thijs Boogaard breaks through. It's going to be raining slams in the Netherlands.

Apparently GOATs like Comensana, Lavagno & Popko all of whom beat him this year. There's a lot to like about Fonseca and his aggressive game but Fils was awful in that match so it's worth waiting to see how he plays in a few more matches before over-hyping him.

They said same things about Donald Young, Bernard Tomic and Gianluigi Quinzi. I'd be more careful and if I were dutch, probably also more superstitious.
I am not convinced by Boogaard yet, often getting the vibes he benefited by physically maturing earlier than his peers. Doesn't help his form is nowhere in juniors this year after returning from an injury (hence his ranking collapsing)
Why wait for Boogaard, I thought you said Talon & Botic would be winning slams? You started a whole thread about it.
My post about Boogaard was sarcastic. Although he is promising. But I won't start celebrating untill he made the jump to pro tennis successfully physically. Right now I don't know if he's up to it. Still he's young enough to start focusing on it.

Botic I have no hope for anymore. All I can think is that the man hates tennis. Worst body language ever. Tallon flag is waving hard indeed.

Hey hey hey. Why don't we stop hyping the kid just yet? He has the game to reach the top 100, but other than that, he hasn't proven anything yet. Is he the hybrid of Sinner and Carl? You wish!

Saw some of his match against Garin and he did really well, though I thought that when Garin broke him back in the 1st set that that was going to be it for him as the Chilean looked as if he was in the ascendency at that stage. However, the youngster held it all together very well, especially in the 2nd set. He definitely has a good all-round game and hits the ball powerfully and accurately; I'd be surprised if he doesn't make a name for himself in the next 5 years. He is built like Sinner and moves around the court like him.

Way too early for such hype. Lets see him perform well without so much crowd support and on other surfaces. It was only a couple of matches. That said, he has a lot of potential.

He’s been given a wild card for Santiago, he has a good draw, could easily make the QF and potentially play Jarry 😋

I can’t wait to see him play next week 🎉

Given the thread title about Fonseca being a lethal mix of sinner and Alcaraz, I thought it was worth mentioning that Fonseca idolises Alcaraz but sees himself as more of a Sinner-type player.

'I would say the one that I really like to watch, and I really see in myself is Sinner. I really like his aggressive game. Technically, the way he plays aggressively is really my type. Mentally, he is a bit more calm. He is a shy guy and I like the way that he competes. [He is] not too expressive so this is more similar to me.'

'[Alcaraz] is an idol... He is almost my age, & he is an inspiration for all the young people of our generation. He has all the weapons, he is always focused...'

Not sure I entirely agree with the last 4 words regarding his analysis of Carlitos!

How come? Alcaraz needs to be extremely focused, otherwise he wouldn't even be in the Top 50 with his talent.
