Indian Wells R2: [WC] Kokkinakis def. [23] Garcia-Lopez, 7-5 5-7 6-3

Criminal that this match wasn't streamed. Just from live-scores it looked quite tempestuous!

Kokkinakis will play Monaco (who upset Cilic) in R3.

[Though given that Monaco's been in a final this year, and this was Cilic's first match in four months, it wasn't the most surprising of upsets.)

He's progressing well and more than a chance against Monaco in the third round.

HUGE opportunity for thanasi. I'm starting to like this guy, great prospect and a great win here. Monaco is very winnable and I hope hu pulls it off.

:woohoo: Great win!. Ridiculous that it wasn't streamed. Highly winnable match against Monaco in the next round. This seems like a breakthrough week for Thanasi.

It's great to see some of these youngsters starting to win a few matches in the bigger tournaments. Some hope that the next two years won't be dominated only by a fading Nadal, Djokovic and Federer.

The Ozzie youngster really hits a hard ball.

Disguting that Cocky couldn't close this one out in 2 sets.
Other than that, NID, mud hugger got put in his place, tennis saved, young guns on the rise, let's get a beer.

Federer has trained for a long time with Nishikori / since he was 17 old/ then with those two Kyrgios and Kokkinakis. I'm wondering what he has done with them to get so successful. Now Fed secretly prepare other two boys at 17 . Does he work with them because of his company team 8 ?! I mean maybe he thinks for the time after his retirement.

Glad to see Kokk finally making an impact at this level. Can easily see him finishing top 70 this year.
If Sam Groth is top 70 then Kokk will probably get there with his eyes closed.
