The guy is a beast on one thing a LOT of the players are missing...the net game; rush and pressure on return, and most young players won't counter them as much as Alcaraz does.

I felt like the 1st set was more one way than the score suggests, felt like 90% of it was on FAAs serve. 2nd set felt closer despite it also being 6-4 Alcaraz getting the decisive break at 4-4

Very entertaining and high quality match. Alcaraz 2 wins away from being back to world no1

Yes I noticed Alcaraz took control of the point right off the return many times

First win for Charlie over Felix

Sinner next so let's see what's going on

Alcaraz looked really good. Nonstop aggression with smart net play and touch. Hard combo to beat. FAA played well but really got bullied around the court by Felix and his game depends so much on his serve.

Could really see how much he struggled when he had to hit his 2nd serve and that’s something he struggles with even against the lower ranked guy. Don’t think there is anyone else in the men’s game whose shots hit the baseline as much as Carlos. Will be rooting for Sinner in the next round but it will be very tough for him to win it the way Alcaraz is playing.

Very good point. Also, on a related note, during the Fritz/Sinner match, one of the commentators suggested that other players are starting to tap into their drop shot abilities as a result of Carlitos having shown them the way all of last season. At 19, he's already displaying positive leadership skills among his peers.

Tough loss for Felix, but the real number one was just way too good again today.
Two key elements. Carlos murdered the FAA BH and the FAA 2nd serve. Basically on a slow surface with a high bound or medium bounce FAA hasn't the tools to beat Carlos as he has glaring weaknesses that will be exposed..
Alcaraz actually was not thay good either. Bad sign for FAA.

A fine event for FAA here making the QF in maybe the worst conditions for him, he'll get Alc next time on a more even playing field.

@anticaria I agree the surprise shot when an opponent is in an awkward position is bearing fruit...make your opponent guess if you're hitting a big shot or a small drop near net.
