I find that Carillo's TV broadcast rap has gotten stale and tired, and she just doesn't offer much to well-informed tennis viewers, while her constant spouting of recycled information is of limited interest to casual fans as well. Judging from the lack of detail in her commmentary, Carillo is less well informed about professional tennis than astute MTF or wtaworld posters. When you are relying one hokey one-liners to keep the viewers interested, that should be a sign that it's time to step aside. Tennis in the United States deserves a more substantial front person. Carillo's credentials as a player have always been shaky, and i think the main reason she is still on TV is that the producers are just totally averse to making any kind of move that might shake things up. Just because the viewers are used to Carillo, doesn't mean she's doing a good job or that she's indispensable. Say what you want about Tracy Austin having a squeaky voice, but her playing credentials are unquestionable, she commentates with more enthusiasm and sharper attention to detail than Carillo, and i think she would make a great replacement for her. That way people wouldn't be crying sexist about Carillo getting the axe just because she's a woman. She's ridden her highbrow baritone as far as it's going to take her.
