I find that Carillo's TV broadcast rap has gotten stale and tired, and she just doesn't offer much to well-informed tennis viewers, while her constant spouting of recycled information is of limited interest to casual fans as well. Judging from the lack of detail in her commmentary, Carillo is less well informed about professional tennis than astute MTF or wtaworld posters. When you are relying one hokey one-liners to keep the viewers interested, that should be a sign that it's time to step aside. Tennis in the United States deserves a more substantial front person. Carillo's credentials as a player have always been shaky, and i think the main reason she is still on TV is that the producers are just totally averse to making any kind of move that might shake things up. Just because the viewers are used to Carillo, doesn't mean she's doing a good job or that she's indispensable. Say what you want about Tracy Austin having a squeaky voice, but her playing credentials are unquestionable, she commentates with more enthusiasm and sharper attention to detail than Carillo, and i think she would make a great replacement for her. That way people wouldn't be crying sexist about Carillo getting the axe just because she's a woman. She's ridden her highbrow baritone as far as it's going to take her.

Why only Mary.. I feel its time to replace all these current American commentators with some one else. I can only tolerate that Dick when he says "OH MINE".. Can't stand Johny Mac, Brad Gilbert, Patrick Mac, Pam Shriver and Mary..

PatMac does a good job, he does his homework and he's knowledgeable and not afraid to take a risk or call bullshit in the booth. Same with Gilbert, but anyway Gilbert is not on the air too often. My problem isn't with commentators who are too opinionated, it's with those who don't provide any information. And yes Enberg is in that category, but Carillo is the worst offender since she is supposed to be an analyst.

We could hire her as another MTF supermoderator

I no no problems with mary. I have always thought she was the most knowledgeable and insightful commentator but lately she has lost some of that, but still one of the best. I like the fact that they all think differently and not always side with the majority of tennis mainstream audience. The person they should retire is the annoying ahole moron John Mcenroe.

I agree with you. Mary isn't the only one repeating the same tired old information. At least Cliff can pronounce "Nadal" correctly. It's not that hard but PMac can't seem to get that right.

I think PMac is the worst one. He talks during points about stuff unrelated to the match. He can't shut up for a second and he constantly repeats the same stories. Plus he is biased toward his favorites.

I like JMac much better. He does occassionally say something funny and he does have a better sense of what a player is doing right or wrong during a match. He doesn't talk constantly like his brother.

Mary Carillo is far from perfect, but also far from the worst.

well, there you go, i think JohnnyMac is awful (i used to like him but he has gotten worse and worse). It's like, buddy, did it ever occur to you to point out something that's not already totally obvious to the viewers? The thing about JMac is that of course he really does know the game, but he's not using his knowledge. Whereas Carillo gives me the impression that she doesn't have much of an understanding of tennis to start with.

That's my opinion and I am sticking to it. PMac is the worse. JMac is funny and to the point most of the time. Mary is usually not commentating men's matches so I hardly notice her. I like Cliff because he says Fed is the best he's ever seen. He's got a good eye, and knows his stuff. Plus he can pronounce better than the rest. Gilbert....is unnecessary. He should go find someone to coach.
