Shapova had to win second set. It's fact he had on other side of court not really good Nadal at all.
May be they just doesn't want beat Nadal in really important tournaments?

They just are worse players than Nadal and never will be like he.

They need to wait when Nadal will get injury or become really old (2024?))).

Shapovalov forgot how to beat Nadal. Or maybe just afraid of him?

As usual Shapo showed impressive shotmaking but not nearly consistent enough to overcome a solid Nadal. Will be very interesting to see how Nadal does in 2020 as he gets older and the younger generation gets stronger.

Rafa wasn't even playing well at London, and Tsitstipas still couldn't stop that match from going about 3 hours on the eve of the SF!
Tsitsipas didn't even see a break point on Rafa's serve!
The future does not look bright for NextGen, if Tsitsipas is the best they have....
And Medvedev has never even won a 5-setter.
NextGen are getting stronger, but looks impossible for them to win a slam in 2020.

No one outside of big Novak and the great man fluking backhands every 2 seconds can beat him when it counts.

It's almost impossible to beat Nadal on a high bouncing surface for a right hander without a solid BH which is 80-90% of the men's circuit.
Southpaws like Verdasco shouldve beaten him more often but they choke so he gets away with it.
And Left-handers have even more trouble with Rafa.
Rafa vs. Left-handers = .872
Rafa vs. Right-handers = .828
