Would Peak woods (04-08) win as many majors in the last 4 years, this era, as he did before? More? Less?

Is it just kind of like a peak Federer situation where the majors were won in the "locker room" and the intimidation factor is just no longer there?

Or is the field that much better now that he only would have won one major a year now even at his peak?

Tiger's peak was around 2000-2003, not 2004-2008. He even lost the #1 to Singh at some point during that period although he was still great. Anyway, he's obviously declined lately but more importantly he's been playing his best golf outside the majors. He still should break Nicklaus' record at some point anyways.

I think it looks unlikely. Especially with this latest injury.

Why don't we ever see even flashes of the old Tiger?

Even Federer every now and again gets somewhat close to his peak.

Golf ranking system is something else. Woods has played four tournaments this year and scored T25, WD, T41 and T80. And he's still #1 in the rankings, even with a "race" position well outside the top-250. I guess it wouldn't have mattered if he was defending champ in some of the majors not held yet this year, but no - he won his last one of those in 2008. The last four held has given him T32, T6, T40 and DNP.
