The "ideal" height 2000-2020s was about 6ft2 think fed, nadal, djok, wawrinka

Traditionally too tall meant lanky, slow, and a bit awkward

Now you have giants move who have amazing fitness/movement

Aus open 2024 SF, is zverev, med, djok, sinner, average height 6ft 4

Atp top 10, 4 are 6ft4+ med, zverev, tsitsi, hurkacz

Is tennis now a taller mans sport?

I think it is, cant see agassi, hewitt, chang doing as well even if born in the same era

If you are this tall it is easier to produce power with technique/swing and you don't need that much power in the sense of strength.
I think the barrier is 183cm/184cm, but shoulder height is actually the key.
You won't see thin players who are under 185cm, while being taller you can be quite lean.
Key is movement and the way Sinner, but especially Medvedev and Zverev move is exceptionel.

Usually tall players move like Hurkacz (so-so) or even like Raonic (slow)

This, look at Gasquet for example..most if his height is his neck and tall head..but his shoulder height is of a 5'6/1.68mt guy

I don't know , how tall was Safin ? Because I thought he played excellent for his height and size

Edit: 1.93 even taller than Sinner so there's some room still

Maybe half-way between Meddy/Sasha/Delpo and Sinner/Djokovic is even better in the future

I'm afraid we will never see anyone like Ferrer or Schwartzman in the top 10 anymore

Highest ranked of that height is Baez at 25

It's interesting because in women's tennis, those who are 6' or taller often have very poor movement (Rybakina, Pliskova, Kvitova, Osaka, Venus, Davenport). But it doesn't seem to affect the men. Even guys who are 6'5" or taller seem to move really well. I wonder why that is.

Robin Söderling has not been mentioned yet, but he's also a member of the 6ft4inch club. He moved well for his size (1,93 m), with efficient footwork and balance, especially on clay, where he reached two French Open finals. While maybe not the fastest player, his movement complemented his aggressive baseline game effectively.
