He just kind of did the equivalent of winning a grand slam (winning 200 points) yet he still cant make it..How bad his year has been

But yeah, he would defenitely be top favorite if he would participate there!

Before the final he said he would NOT go (he said it's too far and he'd rather go back to Argentina and start preparing for the next season).

After the final he said he hadn't heard anything about Roddick's injury and joked that he should call him.

I'm pretty sure that unless there's a confirmed withdrawal in the next couple of days, David isn't going to Shanghai.

during the masters cup there is only 1 alternate?

he's going to shanghai as an alternate, but more importantly because he loves the food out there

nope. A couple of years ago several of the qualified players did not play (Nadal, Safin... who else? :scratch: ) and Nalbandian won as an alternate.

Ok so please stop me if i'm wrong:
Nalbandian has to go to shangai in case there is some withdrawal in case he doesn't want to go there for nothin' in case all the qualified players don't play than the first alternate becomes Robredo?

Or both of them have to go to shangai so if there are 2 withdrawal like davydenko & roddick they will replace them ?

Or Raf for that matter. Brrr, I have nothing against Nalby (quite the contrary), but this bandwagonning is indeed getting a mite irritating.

honestly i'm quite suprised to see how many threads are dedicated to Nalbandian it's like nobody knew before how talented the guy was.
he won the masters def somebody called federer :devil: also reached the final of wimbledon which is quite something for an argentinian .
The fact that the guy had some personal issues lately and couldn't play an amazing tennis doesn't mean he lost his gift so please guys don't open another nalby thread !
i think there are a bit enough.
Btw: i watched many matchs of nalby @ bnp paribas masters and it was so perfect i wish him all the best for the upcoming tournements

the tournament in 2005 was strange because most of the top players retired- Rafa, Marat, Roddick, Hewitt and Agassi after losing the first match. Therefore players like Gaudio made it to the TMC (and lost 6:0 6:0 in the SF) . I think Nalbandian was the first alternate then

that's why i was wondering if there must be a couple of alternates....
