Discussion Starter #1 (Edited)
17 slams is the only thing he has and a crappy stat like head 2 head in slams which doesn’t mean jack since you have to be able to beat everyone to win slams and just not one person more than they beat you.

So he has literally nothing else like weeks number 1, wins, number of finals, etc.

Add to that his 11 out 17 slams being the French Open, and he has very little to stand on if Djokovic catches him in the slam count.

Re: Is Nadal officially out of the GOAT discussion when Djokovich matches his slam co

I don´t think Djokovic has to match his slam count for that but let´s be honest, Nadal wasn´t that far of winning this AO, mainly because he´s so lucky, what if for any reason Pouille or Shapo had beaten Djokovic and reached the final? and I´m not counting Medvedev because I think Medvedev would have destroyed Nadal had they met in the final.
Nadal is still favorite to win RG probably many years from now, there´s nothing official until all is said and done

If/when he catches him, there'll still be tennis to be played so no.
If Djokovic wins RG19, however, I think it's safe to say that he moves ahead of him despite 16 < 17. The 2CGS and 2NCYGS, the weeks at #1, the Masters set and YECs would be more than enough to compensate.

With 2 Grand Slams, Tour Finals, 6 Masters 1000s on hard courts, if anything, it is hard courts that are, as a matter of fact, overinflated on the current ATP tour calendar. Federer has 11 grand slams and Djokovic has 10 grand slams on hard courts, so, what's the issue if Rafa has 11 grand slams on clay?

The issue is he is a hard-core Rafa hater who never failed to find chances to diminish his achievements.

Hard courts are the most common surface because they are a) cheap and b) a nice median between grass and clay that allows all kinds of players to be successful. Up-and-coming players build their style and physique around succeeding on hard courts precisely because they're the most common. On the other hand, Nadal and Thiem specialise in the most extreme surface, slow clay, by developing more muscle and generating more topspin, because they know that's how to gain the biggest advantage over jack-of-all-trades players. To put it another way - the competition on clay is weaker than it is on hard court. That is why being a clay specialist and winning most of your titles on that surface diminishes your overall achievements.

This thread.. I’ve been waiting for years. Hell it took me 7 login attempts to reset my password and post this I never come back here.

But worth it!!

Nadaltards in peril ruins. Nobody else in their camp now either as he’s washed up. Nothing to do now but “pray for death” and watch the hair get thinner and watch the Serbian deliver him a pizza and take his slam count.

Tasting the tears is delicious!
