is nadal getting past the quarters this year?

So much is made of the draw. Lets be realistic nadal is amazing at fighting and clawing his way into form. The question begs though is he relevant given his lack of match play after a long layoff that it matters which half he falls int he draw?

Would you favor the likes of raonic, nishikori, and even murray against CURRENT form of nadal? We all know birdshit would bend over regardless.

Does nadal even get to the qf is one question; the second is in his current form can he get past 3/4 likely quarterfinal opponents?

He's gonna draw players who don't even have the game to potentially beat him so odds are he will. IDC if he makes the second week as long as he's in Nole's half.

I'm quite fed up of seeing an inform Federer who looks good to win AO stopped dead in his tracks by a rampaging Nadal(09,12,14 esp 12,14). I want Fed to have a fair shot at AO, like if he loses to Nole in the final it would still suck but atleast Fed had a decent shot of winning the damn thing.

Even Murray? How about even Raonic? Murray has a greater chance than either, especially over Raonic. Murray performed a mini-masterclass against Nadal 5 years prior and that's against a much better Nadal than current.
There was actually something off about nadal during that match. I hate using injuries but there was somthing not right with nadal in the middle of the match

p.S. i just checked. Nadal retired during that match in the 3rd set. Doesn't really count in my opinion.
Nadal was being utterly outclassed, frankly and I wanted Nadal to win that match. That was Murray at his absolute best. Standing up to Nadal and his antics on top of schooling him in every single department.
All I can say if I was a Federer fan I would be praying to someone stopped Nadal in quarters even Federer is in very good form and Nadal is rusty. And sure that I would not be alone.
Yes. I'm guessing he will get a cushy draw and be in Roger's half as well, which is better for him. If Novak loses early he could even take the title. Too many players lose their bottle when playing against Nadal, his antics put them off.
If even a player like Murray can crush him it would be hard to imagine him making it into the semis this year.
He may be lucky to make it the 4th round this year.
If Berdych is his QF he's a lock for SF. Probably beat Raonic too, who's always likely to throw a bad service game against a top player.

Murray and Nishikori would fancy playing against a rusty, average Nadal. Even in a poor 2014, the former outplayed him in Rome for long spells of that match whereas Kei's record against him absolutely puzzles me considering his play style (two handed backhand, ability to take the ball early in a rally)
He'll be a strong favorite in every possible matchup before SF so the safe money would be on yes.
I'd say its about 50/50 on him getting to at least SF. Depends a lot on the draw as well. Obviously Nadal is vulnerable to lose in early rounds against ball bashers and other aggressive players. But I hope for the sake of the bet I have going that he does make it to the semifinals/final :)
No matter how shit he looks he's still less vulnerable to an early exit here or USO than he is at Wimbledon.

Last pre-QF exit from a HC slam for Nadal? Ferrer at the 2007 US Open!
Of course, he will reach at least one QF this year unless he gets injured and missed many of the GS events. He has lost only once in Roland Garros. If he does play in Paris, he will reach at least the SFs there. I don't know how much he has recovered from the surgery, but he has been forced into this kind of situation before and every time he came back like a phoenix. He may have lost in the first round last week, but it doesn't mean much given it was merely the first tournament of the year. He may have been faking his bad performance so that everyone would think he were in deep shit. I won't be surprised if he goes all the way to the title at Melbourne Park to be honest.
if he is healthy there is no single reason he should't.

Agreed, because of the extreme match-up disadvantage.
Depends on if Tio can work his magic
