what a pity eriet isn't back now when Tsitispas is relevant
you're a DA i think but in this ghost town it shouldn't be important

forum took the first hit when Safin retired and Safinettes moved on  but yeah 2005-2011 was generally like a golden era here

i'm married to Arsen these days, been a few years already lol
Yeah I know you married. Coolest MTF couple for sure... some others seemed just odd and freakish... LoL... Hope you're happy ;) tell that baster malaka to come and say hello at least.

Did you become a sport journo, Nathii?

i was a sports journo, like for 10 years? later did marketing
housewife now  (i'm kinda sick and had to quit my job  ) although i published a book, i started working more seriously on my yt channel about underground music. Kinda weird i didn't go back to sports things  but i'm happy with these music things and met awesome people through that as well (and even in sports, ofc we still watch some tennis, but we mostly follow basketball, that's what happens when you marry a Serb)
cheers mate ;)

Wow that's so cool Nathii, was it a tennis book? And what music is your channel about? May I see it? Didn't remember you were that much into music, although I recall that GoT + Music game you set up... that was fun :)2

Incredible how much time we used to spent here (in my case lurking :spit:) those epic pop contests...

I thought I created this thread to find solutions to solve the lack of activity, not to reminisce of your so called ‘good old times’ you old farts

In fairness activity levels in recent weeks have been satisfying enough, at least to me, probably because it’s slam time though and RG incompetent scheduling have provided some drama

"Satisfying enough"... for Christ's sake, no wonder MTF is in shambles...:cuckoo:

What’s wrong? The activity has picked up a bit in recent weeks in comparison to when I made the thread, where it was really very inactive.

Sure, it’s not a spam fest with inane content and gossip like in your time and it’ll never reach that level of activity again b/c of the increasing popularity of SM and VS laziness, but can still get some decent activity, at least for some periods during slam time.

My question is what is the mod style In place?

I wonder if it wouldn't make more sense to have transparency with potential yellow card posters. Instead of just deleting a post and giving a yellow card, if it would make more sense quote the post and PM the poster with what they did wrong and give out a warning.

I did that many times in lieu of having to hand out an infraction. I found it to be more effective then just criminalizing posters, who will probably reoffend anyway.

Maybe it's just me. But also it is impossible to balance the haters vs. Jokers vs. sensitive vs. Oversensitive posters. Each one is right in their own way.

My 02 cents from someone who was very active 06-09/10 and after a couple of years lurking just logged back in for the first time in 9 years (I'm speaking in general, not specific to MTF because I haven't been on in a while):

- I stopped posting here because I lost interest in tennis at the time. This happens with other sports/things in life as well.

- I was a member of a few sports/teams communities in the 2000's a lot of them have seen activity decline, some even disappeared. I think this happened for two reasons mainly:

1. Reddit and to a less extent twitter have replaced forums and some members have probably gone there. (I get reddit but still prefer forum formats, on twitter it's impossible to have any kind of discussion so I don't get why people like it)

2. Bannings. I do think people are way to sensitive nowadays and it reflects in discussion groups. Bannings for trivial things or jokes happen a lot and imo ruins communities or scares members away. It also can suck the fun out of a forum.

- There is only one community that I am a part of that has been largely unaffected by reddit and twitter. Imo this is because a good amount of posters from 9-10 years ago still remain so there is a strong sense of "community" there, it's also a largely self-regulated discussion board/site.

- For MTF I think part of the problem is tennis declined in popularity and no new players have really stepped up. It's been 15 years of FEDAL with 8-10 of Djoker/Murray. Hopefully that will change soon.

Personally I came back because I started watching more tennis again.

edit: To add to my last sentence, I think tennis is getting a bit more interest these days. This year I started talking about tennis again with some friends who we use to watch it back in the day. Maybe just a coincidence though...

that used to my method. But as some might know, it's psychologically draining in the long run because everyone expects so much of you and wants to keep pushing buttons so I wonder why I wasted my time. I prefer to keep it straight now.

One thing I've noticed since regularly coming here again is how some matches don't even get a result thread these days. Back when I lurked in 2011/2012 and first joined pretty much every single match at tour level and most challenger matches got threads. I didn't post much for a while because of a lack of time but I noticed activity fell off a cliff. Even big upsets barely get 200 posts now. Haas-Djokovic at Miami 2013 got around 1000 posts. Last huge thread I remember was the 2017 AO final thread which I vulture posted. The site changes annoyed me as well so that put me off a bit, don't mind so much now though.

Also it seems like there are no real big tards around these days. People like SliceAce, harcos and topspindoctor generated a lot of activity.

Back then until I checked (up to 2012) every match got a result thread. Relevant matches invariably got several threads that were then merged. Literally 5 seconds after final point there were the threads.

Now it's just  not even GS atract public, many matches without thread, sometimes a thread appears hours after match end... it's quite sad.

The Nadal-Berrettini match thread hasn't even hit 70 posts, 24 hours later.

Think they should get rid of the Ruins, Advanced Discussions, Off Topic and maybe even the Doubles forum and merge all the General Messages boards into one. Especially the Ruins, it siphons off a activity regarding current matches into a pointless subforum.

Moderation contributes to that siphoning by ruinating perfectly valid for GM threads, specially if "Nadal" is in the title.

Anyway Ruins was created for a valid purpose, your suggestion would require to lower the moderation bar on GM, otherwise the few remainers still here would leave or be left.

Have to bump this.

My point still stands, it’s arguably even worse now after the site update. The ACC/Popcon activity pretty much proves it. The average of voting has gone down from 50/60 last year to 35 this year as well. And even if you hated the 2019 season, I know I did, at least it ended on a good note with the WTF which was a very entertaining tournament. Off season being less active is expected, but this is a bit tragic in my opinion

V/S has almost put the final nail in the coffin with this site "upgrade" I want to know what the fuck these people were smoking when they came up with this idea.
