These last 15 minutes got me really tense lol... But yeah overall Meddy was just insane, hitting incredible FHs for a change.

I still think he would not be the favorite against Alcaraz but I want to see that match.

Wtf guys two threads about Berretini in a challenger and no thread after 10 mins for this one...?

Although Tiafoe was staying with Medvedev for a while, the longer the match went, the more it was just managing to delay the inevitable. He did manage to delay it quite well, but not get back in front.

Many players turn taking the ball early into a weapon, but Medvedev has managed to turn taking it late when it is behind him with an almost squash shot action into a weapon.

Perhaps people had to recover from being tense at the end?

Choker Medvedev from last year is certainly to be seen this week, 3 times now he's failed to serve out a match, including from *40-0. But he remains in great form, even on these courts.

More dramatic than it should have been in that second set. Med tried serving for the set twice, wasting several MPs.

Tiafoe tried a net rushing strategy that didn't pay off. Some points he could win, but most of the times, Med's passing shots were on the mark. Tiafoe failed to get depth into his shots, and that made the difference.

19 wins in a row.

Meddy just looks comfortable, enjoying himself. It's great to see. Kudos to him for the two aces to close, having lost the 7 MPs.

Tiafoe did a lot of things right, like coming to the net and taking the ball early. But there were also some wild FHs off easy balls and some poor returning over long stretches.

you can see Tiafoe has all the tools to be a Top 5 player, but something always switches off for him and he can lose focus.

Hopefully he can get a Magnus Norman and have a Wawrinka like break through.

I actually think he's quite right to do that stategy, this court is just too slow for it to work. How often it did work even on this sandpaper shows its viability.

Medvedev

Exhibiting the same carelessness that lost him the AO final last year

Was lucky it was Tiafoe across the net, otherwise he would probably still be out there despite having ample opportunities to put the match away if he only showed 1% more focus and dedication in the key moments

I don’t see it at all. Of course he did very well at the end of the 2nd set but he just doesn’t seem bright enough to me.
Tennis IQ can be developed and learned. just needs some proper coaching. Currently just relying on his talent and hand skills is getting him pretty far, but he needs someone to break through and play at 100% in the tightest moments.

If we go with talent then my favourite current American is still Jack Sock. As a package now it is Fritz.

I think he is careless when things go his way too easily. And then he allows his opponent to be back into the match.

And he'll go for his 19th different tournament win.

That's a weird stat , Is he looking to own every trophy once?

As for the post, pinpoint accuracy .
