Well from the last few years it's no doubt 2009. All the Group A matches and both Semi's were absolutely amazing.

I always thought the 1999 Tennis Masters Cup field was weak. It had Kiefer and Lapennti, who would only make one appearance in this event.

2005 was pretty good. Olderer managed to serve his way out of trouble after being dominated, but Fitbandian still managed to win.

keep in mind this question is only asking for the best from 1999 to 2008

those are the only years in which it was called the Masters Cup

in which case, definitely the year Gaudio got double-bageled by Federer...so...2005?

2011  you've got to be joking or not have watched tennis for very long................
the epic Murray/Djokovic SF alone is enough to make it the best. Murray saving 13 match points and coming back from 5-2(double break) in the final set to win 4-6 7-5 7-6(16). Also Federer needing to beat Fish losing only 2 games to make the semis seemed nearly impossible yet he pulled off the unlikely 6-0 6-2 win(especially since Fish had 40-0 in the final game), then Federer going on to win the entire thing was insane. Plus Ferrer had to straight Rafa to make the semis and he did so that was pretty sick too. The final was decent too. a 2 hour, 16 minute win for Federer 7-6(9) 7-5 saving all 15 break points he faced along the way. It was just an epic tournament all around

yes it's going to happen:lol:

I personally liked 2005. Nalbandian created a major upset by beating Federer in five sets. It was very good quality tennis.

The concept has been the same since the seventies, so all the classic tournaments should be included.

One of the biggest mistakes ATP has done, was to mess with the name. They have changed it too many times. It should have been The Masters for all these years. Maybe it would actually have a better reputation.
