Tennishack: Blake has no experience at this level, dont forget that last year he was unknown!!If Pete wants to play,Mcenroe will never leave him out.if Blake will play,it's just cos Pete doesnt want to go to Davis Cup but u can be sure that if both are there,Pete will play.plus Blake has to play also double with Martin so i doubt he'll play all 3 days.btw it's early to talk about davis cup teams,Us Open performances will say who'll play.
Peace and Love.
Blake does have experience at this level, he has played Davis Cup singles for the US before. I agree that PattyMac will probably be too busying sucking up to Sampras to get the clear vision that Pete just doesn't play well on clay, especially not French red clay at Roland Garros. Yes, Blake will probably play doubs with Todd Martin, but he could also play one of the singles matches--he doesn't have to play both. Perhaps when Petey-boy loses his first singles match PattyMac will see the light. But I doubt it.
The US Open won't really have tons of bearing on Davis Cup, especially since, as Rebecca said, the surface is completely different. Plus, the way Patrick McEnroe plays it, he'll always use Roddick & Sampras for singles and Blake/Martin for doubles, even when there are American players that could do better and should get a shot. I think that's what's really gotten the ire up, but we all know that Pat is a minger

thanks to that wonderful thread!
