Murray is somewhat stockier (heavier + shorter) than Monfils and especially his legs are thicker and relatively shorter.
(That said, Murray's movement is perhaps not the most economic yet. Maybe he still walks too much, but I'm not sure what exactly is best for him.)

Nadal's physical ratio for sliding is ideal, he doesn't need much energy, stops at the ideal distance rather alone.
Murray has to use more energy to move.
Monfils has to use energy even to stop, or rather: to not slide too far, so his antagonistic muscles are stressed (much) more.
He cannot simply put less energy into his movement, as he would be just slow then.

Anyway, in a slower claycourt (RG is relatively quick) Monfils would have better conditions than Murray.
