To the people who watched the Borg matches in RG and Wimbledon I want to ask them this question. How was the style of play of him? Was it similar to Rafa with too much top spin or was he technical like Federer? What was the reason that he didn't win a single US Open title? Was it due to the reason that he used too much top spin in HC matches like Rafa?

Borg`s most similar contemporary in terms of playing style [not character/mentality] is probably `Fat Dave` Nalbandian;)

Of course the racket technology these days allows the likes of Nalby to hit the ball much more aggressively, but if you slowed down Nalby`s stroke by giving him a wooden racket it may look similar to Borg`s:angel:

BTW, Jimmy Connors defeated Borg @ a USO final on green clay:eek:
The surface should have suited Borg more than Connors, but Bjorn never played his best in New York because of the rawdy atmosphere~~ he couldn`t handle the Yanky style Vikings:devil:

Why would green clay suit Borg more than Connors?

"The Borg" are from Star Trek. Faster than light! Super-beings.

Maybe the name was inspired by the tennis player. :worship:

green clay is slower & takes spin better than hardcourt [Connors favorite surface];)
if Borg couldn`t beat Jimbo on `psuedo clay` then what chance did he have when the USO reverted to hardcourt:p
Green clay is a lot quicker than the red stuff they played on, you know the thing the Connors never won a title on in his career. Connors had won titles on the green stuff and the ball doesn't bounce as high as on red clay.

The surface wasn't what beat Borg in the US. Connors in theory should have been able to beat him on grass since his game was better suited to that surface, but we know what happened to that theory.

agreed.
that`s the intriguing thing about the Borg/Connors rivalry [better than the Borg/McEnroe one in my opinion:cool: ]~~ Connors should have beaten Borg @ Wimbledon, & Borg should have beaten Connors @ the USO;)

if Vilas managed to win a USO on green clay, then Borg should have as well:eek:

Because

Vilas killed Connors

Connors killed Borg

Borg killed Vilas
