I have noticed the missuse of quotes on menstennisforums.com several times and I thought that it was time to explain how they work ;)
NB. Green text= No perticular user

1. Quotes are not to be used if the post isn't relevant to the quoted text eg.

Captain Obvious said:
Roger Federer is the best player in the world
I had a great weekend :retard:

2. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, Quotes come before your reply, not after

I agree

So now you all know how to use quotes properly ;)
Sorry to all of those who aren't mentally "challenged"

I've been waiting for someone to correct the board. :retard:
Lucky you.

Those two were easy.
Can you answer these?

Is it possible to copy a private message into a thread as a quote?
Is it possible to copy a quote from one thread into another?
How do I include more than one quote in the same post?
How do I copy in a quote and then comment on it bit by bit, mixing my comments into the quote?

It's "particular". Since you're so very particular and detail-oriented, I thought you might like to know.

So, is that the "correct" usage for quotes?

Quoting someone after typing your response annoys me.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is it such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail (and in quoting)?

i think the most annoying is in photo threads when people feel the need to quote the whole effing stupid post and thus copy all of the photos over and over again. what's the point? you only need to see it ONCE, and for those without high speed internet it can take forever to load. grrrrrrrrr!

Well unless you have 0 cache, it should only need to load once and then it remembers it.

I would say correct usage of quotes, because for in this context implies that you are asking if that's what quotes are used for, rather than asking if you had used them correctly. :p

There are two people who still neglected to quote before replying.

Yes, you simply insert the text you would like to be quoted between these two tags. (obviously without the asterisks)

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
