What Official Site Says:

Con la Mira en US Open

On Thursday when the draw is made the main draw will know the first opponent David to face the final Grand Slam of the season. The U.S. Open begins next Monday. There, with only 4 games after two operations, David will seek to make a good showing at Flushing Meadows, where the 2003 had its best performance.

There were several players who had to leave the sport after undergoing hip surgery. David not only returned in 2010 after the hard trance, it was dedicated in Washington. This semester, after two new interventions in the Cincinnati Masters was the last Argentine to leave the tournament. David knows that is on the right track.

After his return, his main goal was not to achieve results. Its purpose was based on total hours of tennis to re-pair your physical maximum competition. Now, the U.S. Open presents an obstacle to come up with some shooting foreplay. However, in New York, the "King" promises to try to play his best tennis.

Now David is thinking:
"when better to loose? pass Reynolds/Ljubicic, then - stop in R3 (Nadal)?
or directly stop in R1?"
sorry 4 my black humor...
hope David will show us really something hot :)
at least he can try...

I find myself already accept that Nalby is not a serious contender anymore.
And I don't want to blame myself for that.
I feel this scary, very scary.
I hope he proves me wrong.
He is so unique, can't imagine the next several years.
How do I live without him?

Maybe David can still surprise us ? I heard that he could hire Mancini as his new coach for 2012 so he's not redy to retire ?? His fitness is so poor that he needs to work on it rather on his tennis. If he's fit, his tennis will come back to delight us. All those injuries pauses damaged his body and his confidence, he needs to play a lot of matchs to play better

I think when his retirement will take place will depend on his health. If he suffers from another injury again, he would retire (because it is frustrating he had so many injuries and really did not play full-time in 2007 / 2008 / 2009 / 2010 / 2011).

I hope he would win the Davis Cup at least.

And I hope he would do better in GS next year. At least reaching a QF?

Then I guess Federer / Nadal / Djokovic would run out of gas a bit in 2012-2013 (of course they would be newcomers contending for GS), and I hope Nalby would have a bit of a chance to win a GS. I predict he would have 1 surprise final run.

It is just sad he lost so many chances to win a GS in the early years of the previous decade, especially against Roddick in the 2003 US Open semi (holding a match point). It seems that match changed his career and Roddick's career completely.
