Very solid from Gabashvili. Isner was absent in set 1, winning less than half of his service points, but improved for set 2. Gabashvili was very clutch in saving break points in the second set. Tiebreak was all Gabashvili, returning very well and remaining calm. Isner's Miami success doesn't mean anything today. Good win for Gabashvili.

Sad really that he pops up out of nowhere ripping through US Masters and being so clutch, and then quickly fades afterwards in an 'easier' field. It really explains his ranking...

I remember one of the breaks in the first set was off 2 DFs in a row which is quite unforgivable knowing the strength of Isner's second serve. He got better in the second with the crowd chanting "John" in support, but Gabashvili is a solid player and did what he had to to win quite convincingly.

There's lies, damn lies, and claims that Gabashvili is solid.

Peak Gabashvili was probably RG 2010. Very unfortunate for him to run into peak Melzer at that time

Players that struggle to break will always be inconsistent, you can't rely on winning every TB.
