Next Saturday, Patrice (SuperFurryAnimal) and me leave for a week to Turkey. We won this vacation at the Rosmalen tournament a few months ago and we are really thrilled about it.
Anybody been to Turkey before and can recommend us anything about food, customs or whatever? More specifically we are going to Kemer (near Alanya), anybody can tell us anything about sights and activities nearby?

Hi there, my post wont be much use (but maybe it will make you happy). Me and my parents used to go on holiday every year from when i was about 2-14 years old. I went to turkey twice, and it was very nice when i went. Not the typical boring tourist country like spain (where every single tourist seems to go). The people were also friendly there

It is extremely hot though, when i went i think it was 35-40 it made it difficult to sleep and there are lots of mosquitos! luckily i have never been bitten by one in my life i guess i just dont have the skanky blood they like to suck

I've been 3 times in Turkey. Twice in Istambul and last week I returned from Izmir (where BTW I participated in the Universiads tennis tournament). Also I'll go in Antalya this ocober.
I quite like their food, it's quite similar to ours (Albania). The period you are going is maybe the best as there are not so many people (I think) and it's not that hot.
People are really nice and friendly. I'm sure you'll have a great time

I was already a few times in Turkey, and in such famous and big tourist centres like the region of Antalya/Alanya you can hardly do something wrong if you behave civilized like in every other "normal" country you visit.
There are so many archeological things and ruins to see, you can hardly see everything and it's hard to rate which ones would be the most important ones to see (maybe harbour(s), historical museums, the castle...).

I'm not such a sightseeing person who does nothing but doing tours and trying to see as much as possible. Therefore, most of all, I liked the beaches and the mountains in the landscape all around me

But if you have the chance to go Istanbul and if you never have been there before I would recommand to visit it, but the problem is that it is awfully far away from Alanya. It was a must see for me and I didn't regret it, but not the easiest thing if you are basically located so far away.
