<><><>Sad to say but my gut feeling is that Hewitt should really retire in the next 6-months, unless he can dramatically turn around his form.

In 2007 Lleyton played pretty well at times but ever since his Rd.2 loss @ USO last Semptember his form has been quite embarrassing, except for one gutsy win @ AO over Baggy.

Hewitt is now losing regularly to players in the #30-#80 range, so it`s not just the top guys who have his number:sad:
~~
#consider Llegs performance @ Mumbai, Tokyo, Adelaide, Sydney, Rotterdam & Las Vegas>> he`s not even getting past the 2nd round in MM tourneys anymore:mad:

Hewitt`s had a wonderful career, i think he can retire with his head held high [plus he has a smoking wife, so he should be happy:devil:]..

Career highlights:
*1998: won 1st title & defeated Agassi
*1999: won 2nd title & helped AUS to Davis Cup victory, ranked #22
*2000: won 4-titles, USO SFs, Davis Cup finalist, ranked #7
*2001: won 6-titles, USO Champion, TMC, Davis Cup finalist, ranked #1
*2002: won 5-titles, Wimbledon Champion, TMC, USO SFs ranked #1
*2003: won 2-titles & helped AUS to Davis Cup victory, ranked #17
*2004: won 4-titles, USO finalist, Wimby & FO QFs, TMC finalist, ranked #3
*2005: won 1-title, AO finalist, Wimby & USO SFs, ranked #4
*2006: won 1-title, Wimby & USO QFs, ranked #20
*2007: won 1-title, ranked #21

so frustrating to see him play fairly well against good competition (like v. nole at AO), then stink it up against the guccione's and benneteau's

Wow I know he's not playing his best but come on, it's not enough to retire at his age, Santoro is still shining without really achieving anything, I can see why you're upset but come on give the guy a chance to try, it's not like he's decided to dedicate himself to doubles.

Captain Knee Jerk is back.

there`s no "knee jerk" about it:rolleyes:
...
Hewitt`s gradually been on the slide since 2005:sad:
>> moreover, Lleyton`s failed to win more than 2-successive matches @ the last 7 MM tourneys he`s entered:eek:

He is having very variable results since he switched his MP Tour 90 (that alleged RDS 001 was a paint job anyway) with RQ IS Tour 1.

Re: "**"HEWITT should retire @ USO this year [satisfying career?]

yesterday it was Safin

today it's Hewitt

if players retire as mtf-users want them to, there would soon be no more left on the circuit

and Hewitt is really not in an age in which it is common to retire
who can say for sure that he won't find at least top20 form back in summer or in 2009:confused:

a thread stating lleyton playing his worst tennis ever, why bother just stating the obivous? Yes, today's loss was absoute crap, no need for a thread like this every time he lsoes one of these.

oh stop it.

if anyone stopped tennis when their chances at winning slams are slimming then we would have no players at all. McEnroe played his last awesome season at 1984 and played until 1992, same with connors and lots of other players.

If he did decide to retire, why would he do it at the US Open? :retard:

Hewitt isn't going to win anymore Grand Slams, he is unlikely ever to grace the top 10 again. He might not even finish this year in the top 40. But as long as he feels like continuing to play and is able to get satisfaction out of his job I see no reason why he shouldn't continue. Same things apply to Safin.

Fair comment. Its a bit rich for Xristos to complain about annoying threads.
