Please help me. You all are some of the most creative people I know.

We are throwing a party for my father's 80th birthday and I'd love, love, love something cute to put on the cover of the invitation.

Here are some things he likes/knows that might be easy to rhyme with: Dad, Opa (pronounced Oh-Pah), car, baseball (and football, for that matter), movie, dance, and family.

And here's what I have so far:

XXXXX, Dad, Opa
He has so many names (fame, game, frame, shame, blame)

.....

Come and Whoop it up with us
Because he's turned 8-teeee

I expect nothing...but know the Power of MTF.

Obviously, the details would be inside...but anything you can provide...

Glad I kept my day-job. LOL.....

It's Opa's eightieth year
And we're throwing a party, don't fear
But in his condition
There'll be no wishing'
Or blowin' out 80 candles, Y'HEAR?

So please help us celebrate
- it's OK if you come a bit late
But we would like your presence
No need for your presents
On this really special date.

My Dad is a very fine age -
His wisdom compares to a sage,
So come to his party,
He's still hale and hearty!

Wow, guys. Those are great!!!! I knew it, knew it. MTF to the rescue again.

I especially like the part about the no-presents (so true, he's got soooo much stuff)...and GoldenOldie, OMG, my maiden name...is Hale.

I'm currently working on a graphic of an old 1932 model car with a license plate of "OPAZ 80". Since we can actually buy personalized plates here (at a very reasonable price, I might add), and that particular plate is available, I'm gonna try to get it for him...and his (new to him) Camero Convertible.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I like limericks - so here is one from me :)

On Dad's eightieth birthday,
For good health and happiness we earnestly pray,

And as he turns the page on a new year,
We invite you dear friends from far and near,

To a party filled with fun and surprise,
Where in your presence, may his spirits soar and rise

Don't take it wrong, but being Irish I am compelled to point out that a Limerick has 5 lines, with the first, second and fifth line rhyming, as do the third and fourth.

And the rhythm is 8-8-5-5-8.

Ah OK, I'll call mine a freestyle poem then :D

It is also a tradition to mess with limerick rhyming and metre, so njo problem.

But maybe we should not call these things here limericks, anyway. Purists insist a true limerick must be obscene.
