...To up their confidence. Pouille is most likely opponent for Fed in 3R and Shapo might face Nadal on 3R too.

A better title would've been something like, "Would you be surprised if neither Djokovic NOR Rafa won Wimbledon in 2019??"

They played their 60% and their rival played about 90%, if that´s on purpose...,
they don´t really care, they have already lost to younger players in unofficial matches before that didn´t do anything relevant in slams after. This results are totally irrelevant

Its not about actually trying to lose, its the fact that you cannot possibly have adrenaline flowing at an exhibition event, so you are naturally not going to move as well or hit as hard.

This is especially true for players over the age of 30.
Imagine being on the tour for 15 years and trying to get excited for a practice match....

Also, elite players can't gain anything from winning a practice match, but they can get injured.
So they may play with caution.

If they win they win. If they loose it doesnt matter. They didnt play warmups to get some extra rest. And they use these exhos to get more in game time.
And why would anyone in 2019 open a thread about exhos»«?

It sounds like conspiracy theory. You're looking into it too much.

I think they were going for a draw.

Some people never learn. Like this is the first time Rafa/Djoko play and lose in exhos before Wimbledon. Neither played any tournament since RG, so they use those matches to 'feel' the surface and adapt to grass court, it's not rocket science.

Agree with everything up above. If anything im very surprised that these exhibitions are being talked about here as if they matter. I always thought the people here agreed that exhibitions count for nothing.

There is at least one ridiculous thread per day, usually 2, sometimes 3.
