Because if he hasn't yet, don't expect him to play even 3 rounds. I have seen him practicing twice at the Open (one of them a set against A.Murray and another against C.Moya) and he was quite noticeably limping in the first one and cut short in the second (against Carlos). He then sat down and looked very subdued talking to Lundgren and a few other people about the knee. Moya was sitting next to him looking very sympathetic. Lundgren looked upset.

damn...i hope marat will do the right decision if it's playing or not...better have a healthy safin in 2 months than one who plays this season and after cant play at all :( thanks for the info!

doesn't sound good. marat should withdraw...he must look ahead...

I know he has the next few months to worry about but surely the US Open is priority. If he can just hold on for the next 2 weeks, he gets a long break before any important tournaments come along.
