Thiem with 5 winners outside his serve, Jarry with 51 UEs in two sets. :hah:

There were some huge winners from Jarry as usual, but still wouldn't call this a great performance from him. Rather low-quality match overall.

Match-up with Basilashvili would be something special, thats for sure...

Mayer will probably win the title again.

UE's as usual from Jarry, but what a win! First time he beats a top 10!

Demonstrating huge mental strength, recovering from a 2-5 on 1st set tie-break and then again in 2nd set where Thiem had 3 set points. Hopefully he can keep consistency.

Wtf Dominic. After a promising start, he's really gone backwards this season. Needs to figure out a plan because he can't keep being this useless outside of the big clay events. At least Jarry is an exciting player.

Thiem got beaten by who? Lord have mercy.
He's the #1 Chilean, come on now... He's also just 22 so he's still quite developing. Great FH on clay and reached the semifinals in Rio 500, now Hamburg 500 and reached the Sao Paolo 250 finals. I thought as a long time MTFer you would know his potential by now hehe.

Thiem loses matches like these because he is a one dimensional player. He bashed in this match against a better basher, when he should have been mixing things up much more.

Must be tough for the Thiem fans, guy is incredibly inconsistent

OMG, now even Hamburg is becoming almost a challenger :rolls:
Seeds 1,2 and 3 all out in QF  We are now left with Kovalik, Basilashvili, Jarry and Mayer.

Well, still much better Gstaad... Berretini - Zopp SF, wtf? :spit:

Glad I didn't watch this, judging by the stats this must have been the most stupid clay match he has ever played. Massive choking (served for the first set, lead 5-2* in the first and 6-3* in the second TB and lost them both) and questionable tactics (in interviews he said he was just pushing the ball into play and waiting for errors from Jarry, a career-low of five baseline winners in two sets back that up), it was all there in this match.

he choked in the important moments of this one really. Jarry played well but Thiem's mistakes in the TBs while leading were costly. Also his deep return stance on second serve particularly in the ad court is suicidal, leaves way too much open space for Jarry to hit FHs.

More proof Thiem will win NOTHING when the big three has retired. Ballbasher mug is capable of losing to anyone, and would choke a grand slam final vs Christian Garin.
