Something was clearly bothering him. Such a shame with 4th seed on the line, in a match he was heavy favorite for. Oh well, hope he's ready for Wimbledon.

Better than the retirement against Nadal I guess.

Kei had his lower left calf heavily strapped before the match, had his service abbreviated without the leg drive... His game is heavily predicated on his movement and that was heavily and obviously impaired. He showed a bit of tiredness in the 3rd against Janowicz but did not look like it would lead to this.

I can only deduce that Kei came into this match injured after the Janowicz match and hoped to pull something out of the hat to get the 4th seed at Wimbledon, but to no avail...

Worrying times for Kei fans, but good for Seppi in obtaining that seed for Wimbledon.

Pre-match injury it seems for Kei. Tried probably to see if he's on the level but he isn't.

Anyway, I felt this could've been a potential cracker of a match, seeing that Seppi is actually hitting the ball like Nishikori (or similar to Murray, really), in terms he has been striking the ball well and mostly good counterpunching. Seppi now have 2 retirements back to back this tournament (only played just a few games on both in between) and would have time to try to recapture the magic he did in Australia this year but this is Fed's domain so it should be an interesting rematch.

Calf injury, it seems. Couldn't run at all.

Haas coming back from a long hiatus -> Robredo on grass -> RET -> RET -> ATP 500 Final against Roger Federer

You can't get much luckier than that, really.

Get well Nishi. Happy though Stan is going to be the 4th seed at SW19.

His leg taped almost to his knee when he went out. His movement was very restricted, and was immediately broken.

This probably should have been a withdrawal prior to the start. Maybe the tournament twisted his arm to get out there and try?

Respectfully,
masterclass

Pre-match injury. Looked bad. Everybody's hurt nowadays.

Seppi's barely played since the second round!

 Looks like Nishikori will miss Wimbledon. He's stayed fit since reaching the final of the USO but now struggling again. Most likely the transition to grass. Very much hope this isn't serious.

Wrong. In the bigger scheme, Fedtards should absolutely be in ruins about this result. Now there's no possibility of playing Nishikori in SF(virtual bye on grass at Wimbledon for Federer) but now peak Stanimal is the #4 seed and could meet Fed in the SF. We already know what happened when they meet earlier this month :devil: Not saying Wawrinka will beat Federer there, but he played him tough last year and would be a much tougher challenge than Nishikori.
