Strong stuff from Nishikori, he might be able to threaten Federer after all if he keeps this up. Entertaining match, especially the first set, but everything involving Brown is entertaining.

Extremely fun 1st set, Dreddy just dropped off a bit in one of his service games which cost him. Kei too solid in the 2nd, which was less competitive but still entertaining to watch. Great shotmaking all around.

Quite an entertaining match and contrast in styles, featuring a lot of scrambling around the net and reflexive play. Brown was hitting the serve with intent on both 1st and 2nd deliveries and volleyed extremely well for much of the first set, some of his dropshots/stop volleys were remarkable. However, he lost focus to get broken in the 5-5 game, and Kei's return found its range. Second set was a wipeout, Kei winning 5 games in a row from 1-1 by breaking Brown's serve 3 times in a row, with Brown failing to serve and protect the net as well as he had to start the match and should the pt get into a rally, it was Kei's pt 90% of the time.

I feel this is one of the most convincing performances from Kei this year, on his least favoured surface too against a potentially tricky opponent.

Great performance from Nishikori, he's really good when he's calm and relaxed on court. Now got to work on bringing that sort of mindset to actually important matches

He did look very nonchalant out there today, much more confident than first round match. Quite scary the way he took apart Brown in the second set almost without breaking a sweat. He just needs to be confident in his game and play good percentages and be patient. I knew first set would be down to the wire but he held steady and took his chance. Afterwards, he had the momentum with break pts in every Brown game of the second set, breaking on three occasions. Also noted his serve really packed a punch and won him some free pts in tricky situations. Brown only was afforded 1BP I think the whole match, which Kei saved.
