Halle 2025 Final: Bublik vs. (3) Medvedev

Who would have expected this match-up in the final? I guess nobody did. Anyway, Bublik almost clowned MPs against Khachanov today, and I guess Daniil should be an even tougher opponent to beat since he has better defence than Khachanov and his service seems to be clicking again as well. Bublik will surely have problems to hit through Daniil for sure.

My guess is Daniil in 3 sets.

H2H is 7-0 in Daniil's favour, by the way. 2-0 on clay and 5-0 on hard. Bublik has won only one set in those 7 matches.

None of their matches were on grass though, which Bublik is comfortable on with it being his best surface. I think this match should be a 3-setter with grass being the equalizer in the match-up. Bublik was also 0-3 vs. de Minaur going into their RG match, and he finally got a win there, and I believe his newfound confidence gives him a chance against Medvedev.

This is an interesting one. Med will likely win. I like Bublik, great player when on song and an eloquent speaker and communicator with a gorgeous wife. Classy guy, actually. A lot to like. However, his on-court appearance is just off-putting: the long limp greasy, matted hair, anaemic, pallid complexion, neck-beard, his big stick-thin drainpipe legs always festooned with compression socks! It just all gives me the fear. Not to mention, he looks as if he hasn't washed in aeons! 🤣🤮

Very pleased this is the final! Like both players a lot , I'm really hoping for a Daniil win its been way too long 😭 ! Bublik is so unpredictable he could pull something special off here I certainly wouldn't be surprised, but I'm hoping and predicting a Medvedev win 2 sets.

I think bub will win although I hope Medvedev finally wins a title. Alex playing really well right now.

Called this yesterday. Bublik is a born again tennis player after beating Draper at RG. Beating Sinner this week was just a wake up call for everyone else. Medvedev looked like he didn't know what hit him for most of the match.

Big serves with incredible fast flat hitting, perfect drop shots and exciting net game, this was grass tennis at its best.(y)

Call it in two also for the Kazakhstani ! Great Success! And just like that Sasha Bubi back in the top 30 and seeded at Wimby, 😂 😆 Let's go I project another Wimby champion from Kazakhstan ! Grass is better and greener in Astana then in Moscow I guess! By the way RybaFishLady and BublikBagelGent are born on the same day! Prophetic!

Missed the match as I had to attend a family get-together/small party. Just watched some highlights there and it basically looked like Bublik overpowered Meddy for the most part. Meddy just seemed depleted and lethargic ... no zip or inspiration. Bereft and devoid. Very disappointing.

You don't like Fonseca, you don't like Bublik. For how long have you hated dynamic shot making tennis?
What I don't like about Bublik is his overall attitude, not his tennis.
As for the other player you mentioned, I have nothing special against him. But he's heavily overrated in large parts of the tennis community, sometimes in an insufferable way.

It's funny how you call your fave "the Kazakh angel" and her male counterpart (also born in Russia, just became Kazakh for fame/money) "the Kazakh comebacker".
The nickname used to be "Kazakh bozo" not too long ago, until he started winning multiple matches from a set/2 sets down in random tournaments.
As you MTF posters probably know, nationality is mostly irrelevant when it comes to my fandom.

Medvedev better win this one in straight sets, it would be embarrassing for the field to let the Kazakh comebacker win this title twice.
I'll take my words back in case the Kazakh comebacker doesn't flop at Wimbledon. The probabilities are low though.
I rest my case.
