Hi,

What is in your opinion the greatest edition of a tournament in the Open Era? e.g. 2012 Wimbledon Championships, 1997 Tashkent Open, 1986 Stockholm Open.

I am not concerned about how many grand slams your tournament has or lopsided H2Hs (e.g. Wimbledon 18 - 1 AO).

Tell us why you enjoyed that particular edition of the tournament.

My favourite tournament was the 2013 Sydney International. It was nice to see such a strong field battle it out before the Australian Open. There were several upsets which completely changed the dynamic of the tournament on a daily basis. We saw many young talents break through and demonstrate tennis of the highest quality. The semifinals and finals were extremely close and could have gone either way; it was anyone's tournament but never before has there been a more worthy champion.

Thanks,

Re: Greatest Tournament Edition in the Open Ear?

AO 2009

And I'm not saying this just as a Rafa fan. The level was excelent. A lot of players played well.
We had peak Rafa, peak Federer, peak Fernando, peak(ish) Tsonga.

I still ocasionally watch highlights of Verdasco vs Murray, Verdasco vs Tsonga, Verdasco vs Rafa, Rafa vs Federer.
