From an Ecuadorian newspaper.....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It basicly says that both Lapentti's won their match in singles!

Nicolas def. Hermes Gamonal 6/2, 6/1, 7/5
Giovanni def. Marcelos Rios 6/3, 7/5, 6/3

Very impressive win for Giovanni!!!

Yes, but Nestor is very good on fast surfaces and in Canada at that tie, the court was veryyyyy fast! But this time, Giovanni beat Rios on a clay court!

Well no offense was intended to Daniel, who can be a fine player on fast surfaces. Or at least could, in his prime singles playing days.

But really - fast or not, Marcelo shouldn't have lost to him.

As for Rios' latest lost - well Giovanni can go home happy ;) And Rios can go home to his ummmm "beach parties" ;)

It's a surprise for Daniel himself winning that match. Marcelo did not prepare himself for the match. Also, the altitude is very high in Calgary and the Chile team did not arrive early to adjust to the atmospheric pressure there.

Yeah Becca, but it seems his last "party" was at the city, you know, Santiago(capital), and with his 2 folks: González and Massú. But Ríos was the one who "lasted" more because for him the party finished at 13:00 of the next day, and that's why he lost the flight who was gonna take them to Ecuador.

By the way, I'm happy for Giovanni. Honestly I thought he was gonna lost ag. Ríos. But well done, my countryman.;)
