Rublev failed to serve out the match at *5-4 in the third but recovered to win it on the tie break.

Yet another top 100 win for the talented youngster.

Re: Geneva R1: (WC) Rublev def Neiminen 6-3,6-7(4),7-6(4)

That's the future five time slam winner before he even peaks, not that overrated mug Coric, not to mention Kyborgios, Kokkomugis, Chungmug, Zmugverev ...

Just kidding :)

1996 and 1997 generation are the real deal, no matter who makes it to the top 10 first, by the end of 2017.

I wouldn't get too excited, he almost lost to Nieminen on clay after all. Kid's still young, etc.

Another tight loss for Nemo :(

Probably out of RG qualies then, isn't he?

Excited by Rublev, we really need some developing talent to emerge.

Has to be. The QD is made tomorrow.

My guess is that the QWC will go to Constant Lestienne. He pulled out of the Turkish Challenger, even though I don't think there were any signs of injury.

I wonder if Rublev thinks that a match against Cilic is better [option]

than playing qualies for RG.

In his current form he had a great chance to qualify for RG MD.

Damn. Probably one more season for Jarkko before he hangs up the rackets, don't see him grinding the challengers

strange to skip RG qualies for a 250 tournament

but in rublev´s case time is on his side...next year he wont even have to play qualies

He opted for playing in the South American clay campaign after AO because "I wanted to take my family to the places we hadn't been to". Since South American clay is about the worst surface for him that you could think of, I suspect tennis is not exactly #1 priority for him anymore.

Rublev is the first player age 17 or younger to win five or more matches in the same year at different Tour-level events since Rafael Nadal in 2004 (Auckland, Dubai, Indian Wells, Miami, and Milan). The last teen to win five or more first-round matches was also Nadal in 2004 (from ATP World Tour site).
