Why isn't he playing Qualifying in US Open?
his stupid dad (who's coaching him right now) decided that he better keeps playing on european clay...

hmpf... bad decision IMO. These 1st round losses can't be good for his self-confidence right now. If he were playing in the Open, it would have been better.

And why is Wawrinka here also? right now he's #215, but maybe he's ranking of last week is what counted?

I don't think it's a bad decision, based on his form, it's very difficult for him to do well at US Open too. Besides, he is not losing 1st rd every challenger tourney, playing on his fave surface(clay) has more chance for him to get his form back.

US Open cutoff made 6 weeks ago before the tournament begins, and at that time Wawrinka didn't make it.

Will not start rant about this situation as it makes me mad *sigh*

However I will say one thing. There is more to tennis than clay. Richie has already proved himself on clay. He is good on it. He now needs to improve on hard courts. He has the potential to be an all court player but by only playing clay tournaments that won't happen now will it. The standard of the US Quallies would surely have been much higher than any challenger, which would have been good for him. *sigh*

Ok I could go on for days....
