Time for the dogs to stop barking. Everyone that was going to tank, would have tanked in the first two rounds. You have to think that everyone playing today is motivated to win the tournament.
Acasuso to beat Andreev @ 1.7
Always hard to tell with Acasuso but the signs are that he is playing really well so far this week. Ok he played a tired Moya and little known Spaniard but the fact that Chucho got through these matches in straight sets without any brain fucks shows he is focused this week in his home tournament. Andreev on the otherhand has been playing like a piece of shit all season and was bagelled by Jiri Vanek of all people and has had a massive struggle just to get this far - spending 4 and a half hours on court altogther in his first two matches. HTH favours Acasuso 3-1 which shows Andreev maybe not all that comfortable playing someone like Chucho.
Simon to beat Gabashvilli @ 1.48
Simon seems to be on form this week. The match up in this one favours him down to the ground as he is the sort of player that enjoys playing brainless ballbashers such as Gabash. Think he will win today and win the tournament.
Almagro to beat Chela @ 1.7
Just going to go with the in form player vs out of form player. Almagro could have tanked in one of the early rounds if he was fatigued following his win in Brazil but by beating Vassallo and Hernandez - players you can easily lose to on clay if you are not on your game shows that he is here to win the whole thing. He beat Chela here at this stage last year and I expect him to do the same again.
And one dog:
Volandri over Calleri @ 2.14
Bit suprised over these prices, would have thought they would be the other way round. Volandri has looked in pretty good order these last two weeks - getting knocked out by eventual winner Almagro in Brazil in 3 sets and progressing nicely through the draw here, beating Massu and Roitman, both tricky opponents with ease.
Calleri on the otherhand has stumbled around during the South American clay court swing, suffering first round exits in Vina Del Mar and Brazil and I am not sure you can take too much from his wins over Monaco and Horna as both had injury doubts hanging over them and that seemed to show in deciding sets.
Simon knows how to win titles - won two last season. Simon is the sort of player that likes pace on the ball so he can counter punch....virtually everyone left in the draw will provide him with this. Gabash shouldn't be a huge problem today, then he will face Soderling or Seppi - he had the measure of Soderling indoors last year and I reckon he would beat him, I would be a bit more worried if he played Seppi as that match up wouldn't suit him. Then probably Karlovic or Llodra in the final - Simon showed against Lopez that he is capable of picking off the big serve and vollyers with his superb returns. I honestly think this is his tournament to win.
Martina Muller will not win bogota so surely its time to start laying her big time.
Jozami over Muller 8/5- Jozami defeated Flavia Pannetta in 3 and then got a bye to the qf because of an injury to korysteva, so she will be fresh and raring to go, she definetly break muller a few times but the gamble is will she perform well on serve? Lets hope so..
Isner over GGL 4/6- GGL has had a good run comming from a set down in his last two matches, isners performance against haas last night was excellent and really should prevail here and see this as a golden chance to make semis.
Salerni over Duque Marino 5/6- Salerni is a very good up comming clay courter from argentina who has had some impressive wins this week, she beat the talented youngster from france cornet in straights and then battled well against the trick italian camerin, Duque marino is a columbian girl and has been favoured by an easy draw so far, this will be her 1st true test and i expect her to fail it.
Seppi over Soderling 13/8- You simply have to back someone at this price who has just defeated Hewitt and nadal back to back, seppi has a good record against big servers, wins over karlovic and ljubicic spring to mind, i think seppi is riding the crest of the wave at the momment and is simply to big against a mental midget like toad.
Bammer over Zvonereva 11/8- Bammer coped with the wind well yesterday and defeated an out of sorts kuzzie, we all know bammer can be tricky for anyone and at the odds she is simply to big.
