Spain was not far behind, unless you count GS titles, then French really excel

The only explanation I see is that tennis is successful in this places is because of the dissolution of Ex-Yu.

Because tennis is an expensive/elitist sport that isn't truly popular in other countries/most of the world. France got the money to support its' players since an early age, the population(many immigrants as well) and the tournaments to speed up their rise thru the rankings.

People forget that only 300 or so players turn a profit every year. Only the top100 can really make a living of tennis prizes. Most parents/kids give up at an early age.

It's more the success of Seles and Ivanisevic that attracted the kids to the sport.

And I agree, Spain actually produces champions and legends of the sport. Switzerland has 2 amazing players. Serbia has Djokovic who is worth more than all of your player combined.
