In the last 7 editions at SW19, the world number 2 before the tournament has won. The last number 1 to win here was Roger in 07. Will history repeat?

2008: Federer is world number 1, he loses to Nadal in epic final. Nadal is ranked 2
2009: Nadal is number 1, but withdraws before the tournament, and replaced by DelPo at the top. Number 2 Federer proceeds to win.
2010: Once again, Federer is number 1 and loses in the quarter-final to Berdych. Nadal is champion
2011: DC and World number 1 Nadal loses the final to number 2 Djokovic
2012: Djokovic is number 1, but loses to number 3 Federer in Semis. Federer then wins.
2013: Djokovic is number 1 again, but he loses in the final to number 2 Murray
2014: Nadal is world number 1(although seeded 2 by Wimbledon) and loses to Kyrgios. Djokovic at number 2 eventually wins.

The defending champ does not win, and the number 2 often does. So will Roger win or is this just total bullshit?

Nadal was the #1 in 2010, but got seeded 2nd. Federer also lost to Berdych in the QF, not Nadal in the final.

Also, by reaching the final in 2011, Djokovic was guaranteed #1 regardless of the result, although going week-by-week, it's true that he was still #2 in the world.

6 if you use entry lists over live rankings
Entry list? In 2010, I believe Federer lost the #1 ranking after Nadal won RG. So that makes it 5.

And if you are gonna use Wimbledon seedings then, Djokovic and Federer won Wimbledon despite not being the 2 seed. That makes it 5 too.
