Big days coming up for Mario...We all know what's happening this weekend, but as of Monday Mario should (will) become law graduate!:D He will defend his final thesis on Monday, which is more like a formality, at least to me it was cause you do all the work before. I have no idea how he can stay concentrated on anything, I'd lose my head! A DC win would be a great present for graduation :bigclap: Ajmo :rocker:

As expected, Mario will play both singles. I wish Mario played first, I can't stand Karlovic

Friday:
13:00 Ivo Karlović - Simone Bolelli
Mario Ančić - Andreas Seppi.
Saturday
14:00 Ančić/Čilić - Starace/Cipolla.
Sunday
13:00 Ivo Karlović - Andreas Seppi
Mario Ančić - Simone Bolelli.

So what does "defend his final thesis" mean? In my country, that's what you do to gain a Ph.D., but from what I understand Mario isn't that far (yet) - he would have to do some postgraduate studies first. Will he have a Masters Degree in Law? And could he actually be a practicing lawyer with that? Doesn't he need some practical time throughout his studies? Sorry for all those questions, but it would really interest me how studying law works in Croatia.:wavey:

Well, it is something similar to thesis that you write for Masters, but not the same. I studied languages not law, but the procedure is pretty much the same with all colleges.
After you finish with all your exams, you write this final thesis (diplomski) where you pick some topic in accordance with you mentor-professor (depending on the field or subject you choose the topic from). The work itself is a lot like when you write the one for Masters, but not so extensive and it's not all so complicated (the procedure). You check and revise it with your mentor until he says it's acceptable, so that's why I said it's mostly formality when you ''defend'' it(cause he revises it couple of times bfore you finish it). There's a committee of your mentor+two other professors in front of who you present your work and they ask you few questions abt the thesis and that's it. Most people pass it from the first time, since you do all the hard work before.
So you don't get the Masters degree (although the system is changing, but I think he studied by the old one), two additional years for Masters. And you have to do the practical work, of course, I guess for like a year (really not sure, but most other fields require one year, like mine) after which they take exam to get the permit to work as lawyers. Hope it was somewhat clear :wavey:

He must've been very disciplined to get the law degree done while he was on tour most of the time :) a very big well done to him.

Yeahhh, WELL DONE MARIO!!
I only found a livescore very superficial so I wasn't sure of the result! Why the Davis cup website doesn't have a livescore for the Europe/Africa world group? I hate them!

Mario was awesome today :woohoo: especially since his serve didn't really work and yet he pulled out 4 excellent serves when Seppi had 15-40 while Mario was serving for the match
