Tommy was more patient in first set and Pics too defensive and made too many UE's. Second and third set Pics stepped in, made an early breaks and holds until end, he played more aggressively, even coming to net often and that resulted in a solid win for him. Robredo's lob attempts were just :banghead:

Re: Valencia SF: Ferrer def Robredo 2-6 6-2 6-3 and reached his first final in 2008

Pics :hearts: Coming into form just in time for me to start worrying about him being in Rafa's quarter for Monte Carlo :D

Maybe a little unsporting behaviour by Ferrer to call the trainer before serving it out at *5-3 for a massage and rest, that's not really fair play.

Poor start from Ferrer in the first set, then he picked it up and they started to get into some tough rallies. It seemed like Ferrer was just doing everything a bit better than Robredo and that got him the win.

Boredo getting pissed off at the match point, missing an easy shot off a poor drop shot by Ferrer.

Ferrer as usual, just kept fighting hard, doing what he needed to do to get the W. He had some treatment for what seemed a bit of muscle tightness in his leg in the 3rd set.

It's home event and the 2nd time he has made the final there.

Robredo is not exactly known for his sporting behaviour either in that regard.

He simply changed his game and start charging the net often and that was enough to get Robredo out of rhythm completely.

Ferrer still far from the form he was showing at times last year but he has the fight to win matches anyway and showed that here.

Well done to Ferrer for getting his act together after an awful opening set. Hopefully he can win his home title tomorrow.

Robredo won more matches this week than he had done all 6 of his previous tournament appearances this season, so he'll be probably be pleased with how he fared at this event.

Robredo did exactly the same in the final in Barcelona against Gaudio a couple years ago. It was even more problematic behaviour because he dit it at 15-40 in the last game, came back on court after medical treatment, won 4 points in a row and the title.

the biggest fighter in the game
Now Mantilla has retired. It's such a transformation, off the court Ferrer is placid, shy, doesn't make much noise and on the court he has balls of steel and doesn't know the meaning of the word quit.

Congratulations on a good win for Ferru. He just hung in there at the start and got better and stronger than Robredo. Seems to me he just has a lot more confidence in himself now than in previous years. In the end it was a well deserved victory for one of the games best fighters.

I for one, wish him Good Luck for the final, I would love to see him win his hometown event.

The question is: is he able to stop on-fire Almagro? Sure, he leads H2H 3-0, icluding this whitewash in Bastad final last year, but he keeps losing sets here and I dunno
